One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer

In Exodus 1 the Egyptians were intent on enslaving the Israelites, wearing them down so that God’s chosen people would become disillusioned and not live up to their destiny. Of the original two million Israelites who received God’s invitation to enter the Promised Land, only two actually entered it!

Similarly, modern day Christians often hear and understand the promises of God each Sunday morning at church but then rarely choose to experience them in everyday life. In One in a Million, Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer invites us to fully engage in the abundant life God has waiting for those who will allow Him to take the lead in daily living. The study provides participants an opportunity to experience deliverance from strongholds, to conquer wilderness living and to claim God-given inheritance.

7 week DVD and discussion group study, starting Tuesday September 14, ending October 26

Cost: $17.00

Childcare will be offered. Children must be registered by Sunday September 5.

Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Satan is the master deceiver, and his lies are endless. Are you burned out, overwhelmed, angry, confused or fearful? According to Nancy Leigh DeMoss, these emotions are the result of Satan's lies. Nancy tackles many of the falsehoods that enslave Christian women with alarming frequency and severity. Though she does not promise their problems will go away, she confronts the lies with practical truths found in Scripture that will help women begin to "walk through the realities of life in freedom and true joy."

This 11-week book study is broken into 5 days of readings from the book, questions in the companion guide and Scripture references to look up and reflect upon. Day 6 is a summary of the week with questions at the end of the chapter in both the book and companion guide. Each day will require approximately one hour of study time to complete.

Discussion time will be Monday evenings 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. No child care provided.

Cost: $24 for both the book and companion guide

The Lord's Table

The Lord’s Table is a 12-week study from Setting Captives Free. It is a biblical approach to weight management, much like A Woman of Moderation (it is the study Dee Brestin references in A Woman of Moderation). The course can be taken online, but some women have requested that we do the study in a group setting here at Summitview. If you are interested in taking The Lord’s Table, it is NOT necessary to have completed A Woman of Moderation first. The studies are complimentary, but not consecutive. I (Kathy Brush) am planning to lead The Lord’s Table, but it is possible that a group could also be formed to go through A Woman of Moderation, which is an 8-week study, with another leader. Again based on feedback, I will plan to start The Lord’s Table study sometime in October in order to help us through holiday eating! At this point, CHILDCARE WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLY IF THE GROUP MEETS ON TUESDAY MORNINGS. If we end up meeting at another time, and the need for childcare is critical, we’ll try to work something out. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Loving Well by Beth Moore

Some people are a joy to love, some are difficult to love, and we all have to deal with some people who seem impossible to love. But in every relationship one truth endures: We will never be able to love others well until we have been loved well. Only God can ultimately give us the complete love we so desperately need.

4 week study, starting November 9, ending December 7 (off Thanksgiving week)
